| Our Indian tour leader Brightstar
is a member of the tribe and still lives on the reservation. He is
an expert
in
their traditions and culture. He is bilingual and speaks English
and Tohono O'odham. Through an agreement between Reisen Arizona
and the
Tohono
O'odham, our guests will visit tribal religious and holy places normally
forbidden to outsiders.
Some of the interesting
Petrography of the region is the graphic representation
of the Tohono O'odham cosmology on the reservation. These were
painted at least one thousand years before the arrival of the Spaniards.
The Tohono O'odham strongly preserve their traditions.
Day 2. - Tour to San Carlos Apache Reservation
After the early departure out of Tucson, we travel four hours to
the reservation of the San Carlos Apache. You will enjoy
the spectacular mountains, valleys and many panorama
views while we drive through the state Arizona. Our first stop is
at the Salt
River Canyon, almost as spectacular as the Grand Canyon.
In the vicinity of the Salt River, we visit a market of the San Carlos
Apache where one can buy authentic arts and crafts from the Native
people. Beautiful necklaces, bracelets and other types of jewelry
are some of the art and crafts available.
Day 3. - Tour to White Mountain Apache Reservation
If luck is on your side you will enjoy the Casino! There are many
excellent restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, which is included
in the price. In the morning, the White Mountain Apaches will lead
us
on a
tour of their reservation.
Day 4. -
The Grand Canyon – one of the natural wonders of the World.
Return to Tucson that night. Four and a half hour drive.
